Transfer pastoral information through SixIntoSeven
It is now possible to transfer pastoral as well as academic information through SixIntoSeven.
Our experience so far.
From listening to the primary schools in our projects last year, it was clear that teachers really welcomed the opportunity to transfer pastoral information through SixIntoSeven. They wanted to share the knowledge they have acquired over many years. The teachers and pastoral staff really go to know the pupils and their families and knew how they could be supported. They found it reassuring that this information could be forward safely about all the pupils.
How it works
We have worked with schools and local authorities to create a standard set of questions. These cover attendance, behaviour, well-being, and other pastoral areas. They have been designed to complement existing systems and provide schools with an early warning. This is needed for early planning.

The information is collected in a variety of ways. There are yes/no responses and dropdowns which can be configured as part of the onboarding process to meet local needs. In addition, there is the option of using a default setting to save time on inputting information. For example, in many schools, the majority of pupils are not Pupil Premium. The column is therefore set to “No”. The user can change individual pupil to “Yes” as appropriate, or use the group select facility.
However, we realise that in some cases, a pupil cannot be described in such a way. We have text boxes, where schools are encouraged to provide additional information and, hopefully, suggestions to mitigate any problems.
There are still cases where more detail is needed. There is the option of setting a flag, which means that an additional conversation is needed.
In these ways, the transfer pastoral information through SixIntoSeven strikes the balance between providing sufficient detail and managing workload.
Transfer pastoral information through SixIntoSeven – Next Steps
We know that each school have their own systems and needs. Therefore, the system is configurable, with the ability to switch on or off individual or groups of questions. This process will be discussed as part of the onboarding journey.

Last year, this was possible with selected local authorities. This year, it is available within our standard package.
